Program Fit and Readiness

Program Fit & Readiness

Hidden Valley Forest School is a small mixed-age microschool designed for children who are able to participate safely and independently within a group setting of up to 12 students supervised by two educators.

To help ensure a successful experience for all children in our program, students should generally be able to:

  • Use the restroom independently, including toileting and changing clothing as needed

  • Follow basic group safety directions with adult supervision typical for their age

  • Participate in a mixed-age classroom environment with a 1:6 staff-to-student ratio

  • Transition between indoor and outdoor activities throughout the day

  • Participate without requiring ongoing 1:1 adult support or medical supervision

While we strive to create a warm and supportive environment for all learners, HVFS is a small microschool and is not currently staffed or equipped to provide individualized aides, medical care, or intensive behavioral or therapeutic support services.

Families are welcome to share additional information during the admissions process so we can determine together whether HVFS is an appropriate fit for their child’s needs and for the structure of our program.
